The website below lists native plant nurseries, some of which are in central Ohio. They are a good source for the Rose or Swamp Milkweed (Asclepias incarnata). Scroll down the page to get to the list of retailers selling milkweed.
Ohio Native Milkweed - GROW MILKWEED PLANTS
A quick internet search shows that Oakland Nursery in Columbus carries swamp milkweed. I would assume other large nurseries in the area would also carry it. Call before going, of course.
An internet search for native plant sales near Dayton, OH showed this website:
Tadmor Greenes - Native Plant Nursery - Dayton, OH Saturday 2nd Street Market 9 am - 3 pm
It says that they will have Swamp (or Rose) Milkweed for sale at the Second Street Market on Saturday June 1st.
I would suggest calling them to verify that. Perhaps they would even save you a few if you offered to pay for them prior to market day.
Please note that I am not from your area and am not familiar with these nurseries. I am not recommending them – it’s information I found on an internet search.
I’m certain there are other nurseries in your area that are selling the Swamp Milkweed. It is becoming more and more available in the big nurseries in my area even though they do not specialize in native plants. Try calling the nurseries nearest you and then expanding out until you find it.
Thank you so much for all the information! I live very close to an Oakland Nursery location, so I will check it out.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks,
Kristen
