so i dug some almost-ready-to-bloom domestic lilies (could not dig the entire large plant/clump but the partial clumps I dug, look ro have enough dirt, i believe, to survive, but for how long...?. It is similar to buying a plant from a nursery and now putting them in your garden. I threw them in a large plastic bag, then did not have time to replant them when i got home tonight. The 'heist' was only a couple of hours ago. What should I do with them in the 10 hour meanwhile? (i dug them from an abandoned house/ lot, so "saved' them in case anyone is getting their uns in a twist. )

You just need to care for them and hope for the best. Either pot them properly as soon as possible or plant in your garden. Water well but don’t overwater. They might wilt for a day or more and then recover, or they might not. It’s a gamble but sometimes we all move plants at the wrong time.
Thank you so much, I kinda did what you suggested in the middle of last night, in the dark, but haven't been able to assess things yet. And I agree with your philosophy (do your best and things will be as they will be) - i must have been over-tired to have fired off questions and sorry if i took up your time. I DO appreciate it. Thanks again.
