Stone fruit disease #869840

Asked May 23, 2024, 6:34 PM EDT

My dwarf nectarine and dwarf peach both have a “blight?” Of some kind. Red patches on the leaves and fruit. Leaves are falling off. Holes are developing on the leaves. Both are in large pots. Bother were sprayed with Copper Fungicide in late Fall and Spring, because last year we were fighting leaf curl. Sorry if this is a repeat question. I could not tell if the first one sent.

Thanks for sharing such great photos!

This looks like it may be a problem called shothole disease. It's caused by a fungus. Read more about it in this info from WSU.
The fruit symptom looks like it might have shothole plus something else. It actually looks like peach leaf curl symptoms with the red patch or possibly cold temperature damage.

What varieties of peach are you growing?

Thank you for the information.

The nectarine is Nacta Zee miniature nectarine: US Plant # 6283 (Zaiger Genetics)

the peach is ‘Bonanza’ miniature- Primus Persia ‘Bonanza’

Is there any hope?  Or should I stick to tomatoes?

If you're willing to keep up with a regular spray program for peach leaf curl, and tolerate weather damage every once in a while, then it's worth a shot!
