What type of cicada is this? #869807

5/23/24 I came across a neon green cicada today in McMinnville, Oregon. It is about 1 inch long. I read an article on the OSU extension website about cicadas that are native to this area, but there was no mention of any that are green. Can you tell me what kind this is?

Hello,
I am putting in a response from an OSU Entomologist, Bill Gerth, from a similar question in Ask Extension from this time last year. The cicada in the photo they submitted looks identical to yours:

"Yes, you are right. That is a cicada. It is a native species either from the genus Platypedia or the genus Neoplatypedia. Interestingly, the green color not an ID characteristic. Cicadas tend to be greenish right after they molt to become adults, but they darken up as they mature."
