Silver Maple shedding bark #869749

Is it normal for a silver maple to shed its bark?

Hello there and thank you for using Ask Extension, 

Based upon your photo, I don't see anything abnormal with you silver maple.  They do shed (defoliate) their bark.  As the tree grows, it's part of the natural process.  

I you are seeing issues in the branches or leaves, send me some additional photos.  Otherwise, you should have nothing to worry about.
