Expert Response

If you intended to share photos, we unfortunately did not receive them. You can try again to attach any files you wanted to share (if it's not working, just paste the images into your reply), and try to make sure they are at least 1MB in file size so we can zoom-in if needed. You can also compare what symptoms you're seeing with the information in our rose diagnostic page. Rose rosette virus and black spot tend to be our most common diseases seen, but there are other conditions possible, and sometimes red new growth (which is normal for many varieties) is mistaken for the viral infection.

Thank you for the photos. It looks like there are symptoms of fungal disease(s) -- cercospora leaf spot and possibly black spot also. Both would be treated the same way. Refer to our information on diseases of roses. Pruning of branches with spent flowers can be done now, which will push new growth. Any pruning shoud be done prior to the end of July. It's not unusal for new growth to have a reddish color on some types of roses.
