Hepatica #869700

Asked May 22, 2024, 9:50 PM EDT

Hello! I just received 100 seeds of Hepatica Nolilis and 50 seeds of Hepatica and am wondering if it is too late to plant them. I would like to plant them in my shade (sunny before the trees fill in) garden. If it is too late, should I store them and start them next spring?

This site says seed collection is in May and to plant immediately.

Based on the above, I think you should plant now. No information on how long the seeds can be stored.
Thank you!  I will get to this today.

Do you plant the seeds in a mound or individually?  How deep and how far apart if individually?

Thanks again! :)

Sorry, if the seed spacing, etc is not included in the sources cited yesterday, I do not know. Seed spacing of most plants is based on the expected mature size of the plant. Depth is usually 1 or 2 times the size of the seed. This plant grows wild in nature. Think of how those seeds would land and grow in the soil if no human intervention occurred.
