gambel oak leaf/branch death #869694

Asked May 22, 2024, 8:50 PM EDT

We live on Cedar Mesa outside of Cedaredge at 6400'.  Some of our gambel oak are showing leaf shriveling/death and interior branches have lost their leaves and appear to be dead.  Looking for ideas on potential causes and treatment options.  See attached photos.  Thank you!

Expert Response

Thanks for your inquiry. It looks like the trees may have been affected by recent frost/freeze. Unless the freeze killed the twig(s), the tree should push out a new set of leaves.
