Acceptable wildflower seeds to plant in SE Michigan? #869690
Asked May 22, 2024, 8:21 PM EDT
I live in Metro Detroit, and a friend gave me a bag of wildflower seeds I would like to plant in the backyard. But I don’t want to plant anything that would be invasive or bad for the ecosystem. Should I avoid this mix? (Varietals in image)

Hi Jonathan,
The seeds listed on the package should do well in your area. They may spread over time. If you don't want the flowers to self-seed, you can snip off the old blooms. If you don't mind having have flowers return and spread next year you can let the blooms dry out over winter. The birds will enjoy the winter treat.
