Dame's Rocket Control #869663

Asked May 22, 2024, 5:18 PM EDT

Hello, I am noticing more and more dame's rocket in my woods and think that I need to start doing something to control it before it takes over. It is flowering right now. I know it's a biennial and so will die back after flowering. Here is my question: can I just go around and remove the flower stalks and throw them on the ground or do I need to bag them and take them to the dump like I do with garlic mustard? Thanks so much, Angela

Expert Response

Hi Angela,

Thanks so much for caring about this invasive plant.  Go ahead and pull everything up. You want to prevent the flowers from making seed , so the sooner you pull it the better. It will drop tons of seed so you want to stop it before the seeds develop.
