Hello. Is it safe to eat the stalks of rhubarb whose leaves have these spots? Does the number of spots make a difference as to consumption safety? I have some leaves that have many spots but the ones in the photo are few. I see conflicting information online. Thanks in advance.

Expert Response
Thank you for your question and picture. From your picture, the spots are small and insignificant, and since rhubarb rarely suffers from any diseases, I think your are safe to harvest it. We cut the leaves off when we harvest rhubarb anyway, so if you have a compost area, I would not put the leaves in it.
Enjoy your rhubarb and make something delicious with it!
