Ornamental Crabapple Tree Issue #869545

Asked May 21, 2024, 9:15 PM EDT

Hello.... recently notice the leaves on my crabapple tree are spotted and in poor condition. Also, typically the whole tree blooms. This year only small part of the tree - high up - bloomed. I've never noticed any issues with it before. Not sure how old the tree is. I've been in my house 16 years and the tree is quite large. So just wondering what you think the issue could be? Apple scab? Thank you!

Expert Response

This may well be apple scab, as you suspect.  You can apply a fungicide in the spring when buds begin to appear.  This year, clean up any fall leaves and fruit so that the fungus doesn't linger underneath the tree.  For more information, see
