Blueberry issues #869519

Asked May 21, 2024, 6:39 PM EDT

I have 2 blueberry questions. On one of my bushes I think I have a spider problem. Many of the blooms have dropped off and there are clusters of webs. The other issue affects all 6 of my bushes. There is fine white stuff on all of the leaves. Do I have a fungal problem? Any help with both problems is appreciated.

Expert Response

We consulted with our fruit and vegetable specialist and he thinks the fine white coating on leaves is pollenand that there may have been a botrytis infection on the flowers. This is not a typical problem, but can be encouraged by the cool, wet weather we have had this spring.

We also see spider webbing, but it is not of concern. Spiders are good to have in our garden and help to keep the populations of pest insects down.
