We have two olive trees that have not leafed out this spring. They were thriving until the January 2024 freeze which may have contributed to their current condition. There appears to be living material when I checked some of the branches. What are my next steps on bringing these trees back to good health?

Thank you for your question, Peter. I am afraid that just a photo of the tree doesn't provide enough information to diagnose the cause(s), nor the cure. What is known is that olive trees are very sensitive to cold, being found in the Mediterranean regions as native plants. They are only hardy to 10 degrees. https://landscapeplants.oregonstate.edu/plants/olea-europaea

While a diagnosis by a lab is probably not going to be helpful, you can submit plant samples to the OSU Plant clinic: https://bpp.oregonstate.edu/how-submit-plant-materials
Good luck!
