Grub Preventative Time Frame #869414

Asked May 21, 2024, 10:07 AM EDT

Good Morning, I usually start putting down my grub preventer in late June and wrap up by August. This Spring seems like it is a few weeks ahead in the cycle of the weeds I see, the soil temps, and rain fall. Do I need to bump my grub preventative dates up a few weeks? Thank you, Taylor Hulbert

Expert Response

I would maintain late June - mid/late July schedule for applying a preventative grub control. These products are most effective on smaller grubs, and you are correct that applying too late in August may result in timing that is less effective. You don't want to apply too early, as the scarabs may not have laid enough eggs to make it worthwhile for an application.
