We have just planted ground cherry plants and within a week this beetle appeared and has eaten much of the leaves. Can you suggest something to get rid of them before we lose the plant? And will this bug eat other plants in the area? We have tomatoes, broccoli . Thank you

Hello.
To answer your question, that insect is a Three-Lines Potato beetle. Here is more information on them: https://extension.umn.edu/yard-and-garden-insects/threelined-potato-beetles
The article I provided will help you determine the best way to eliminate the pest. Please note that the adult beetle that you are seeing is not doing much damage. The larva eats the leaves.
