Willow is 5 yrs old. 2 years ago deer rutted early and had not yet protected bark. Rubbing damage. None since then. Bark seems to be getting worse. Otherwise tree is good. Thank you.

I’m not sure what your question is but your tree looks healthy, only with torn bark.
Since this damage was done 2 years ago, your tree obviously still has energy to leaf out. The first year after the damage trees can often leaf out with store energy.
Trees are very good at sealing over and containing damage. The risk comes when the damage has completely girdled the tree and is deep enough to prevent the flow of water up the trunk.
