Please identify two plants #869314

Asked May 20, 2024, 4:07 PM EDT

I have these two plants that "volunteered" in my yard. Could you please identify them for me? #1 looks like big grass "swords" that grow about 8" to 12" tall. Occasionally there are small, brown, spiky, mini-ball-like flowers. #2 The other plant grows very well in a woodland setting. It grows to 1 foot to 2 feet tall (or more) in clusters with tiny yellowish bells that are rimmed in red. Thank you for any assistance you can give me in identifying these mystery plants.

Thank you so much for letting me know. This helps me as I consider transplanting these volunteer plants to other parts of my garden. I truly appreciate your help!
