Blistered peach leafs #869309

Asked May 20, 2024, 3:52 PM EDT

I’m a member of a community garden in NYC. We have 2 peach trees in the garden that are within 10 feet of each other. One tree has very little growth this spring and all the leaves look blistered and discolored. So we have pruned it back to bare branches a couple of weeks ago. But we are seeing the same symptoms on the other peach tree. What is it? How do we deal with it?

There are a variety of diseases that can cause disease.  Some are weather related.  I am not aware of the amount of rain you have had, but high humidity can allow various fungi to infect the tree leaves.  One is called peach leaf curl which seems to fit what you describe and what I see in the images.

The following site describes some of the possibilities in detail.

Here is another disease that may also be on the trees.  It is called brown rot.  This links provides more details on the disease and what to look for if it is spreading to the branches and what to do.
