Cottage Food - Freeze Dried Good #869290

Asked May 20, 2024, 2:44 PM EDT

I am looking at starting a Freeze Dried Candy business to sell at the farmers market locally. I am looking to get any additional information that I can get about the Cottage food laws.

I encourage you to attend an upcoming Cottage Food Law free, online class.  The link is below to find a class, and then you will need to register.  There are many freeze dried items that are allowed, but there are some that aren't.  With candy, you also will have to label using a different name that the commercial product (for example fruit blasters vs. skittles or something).  There is a lot of opportunity for Q&A at the end of the class with a MDARD inspector.
