Lawn Care #869258
Asked May 20, 2024, 1:12 PM EDT
I just had new sod laid last fall and so far it looks great but I'm starting to get some broad leaf weeds in certain areas along with some dandelions. What is the best treatment for weeds on a new lawn and going forward?
I am also starting to see a lot of grass that looks like little asparagus, I'm assuming those are seed heads but they also have a stock for the grass blade. What can I do about that?

Good morning!
What kind of sod did you have put in? Those are just the flowers/seed heads of the grass. You can mow a little lower to bring them down a bit.
For the broadleaf weeds you can spray a broadleaf weed killer - these will not affect your grass as they just target the non-monocot weeds. If you choose to use these make sure to read the label on the concentration you should put down - the label is the law on all pesticides.
