Cake Baking #869253

Hi, i am in Longmont and have never baked a cakes at high altitude before. I am using King Arthur Gluten-Free Chocolate Cake Mix. And am wondering what i need to adjust. Thanks!

Thank you for your question. Baking at high elevation is a trial-and-error process but you can increase your chances of success with the following tips:

Adjustments:

3500-6500ft

Reduce baking powder 1/8tsp for each tsp in recipe

Reduce Sugar 1 Tbsp for every cup in recipe

Increase Liquid 1-2 Tbsp for every cup in recipe

Add an extra egg white to recipe

6500-8500ft

Reduce baking powder 1/4tsp for each tsp in recipe

Reduce Sugar 2 Tbsp for every cup in recipe

Increase Liquid 2-4 Tbsp for every cup in recipe

Add an extra egg white to recipe

8500 to 10000ft

Reduce baking powder 1/4tsp for each tsp in recipe

Reduce Sugar 1-3 Tbsp for every cup in recipe

Increase Liquid 3-4Tbsp for every cup in recipe

Add an extra egg white to recipe
