Environmentally Safe Insecticide for Ticks #869176
Asked May 19, 2024, 10:20 PM EDT
Hello:
I read your webpage describing strategies for tick control. I keep my grass short, but would like to treat the margins of my mowed area with insecticide, as the ticks seem to migrate inward from the tall grass rather quickly and in large numbers. I have a cabin in Crow Wing County and would like to know which insecticide is best, given the proximity of my yard to a lake and wetlands.

Expert Response
Your best source of advice would be to talk with your locally owned garden center near your cabin. They should be aware of what pesticides can be used without harming the environment. Once a product is recommended, read the label yourself for any cautionary statements. There are products that are safe to use around water.
