Hellebore: To Prune or Not to Prune? #869137

We added a new Hellebore to our garden this year. Never had one before. There’s new growth near the center of the plant. Should we be cutting off the yellowing leaves on the sides and underneath? Are you supposed to clip off the flowers after they bloom? If so, do you do this throughout spring and summer? Help!

This looks like one of the Helleborus argutifolius. Do you have the tag?
This page from Great Plant Picks has good information. Prune flower stalks back to the base, careful to leave foliage stems. Eventually some of the oldest foliage will be declining and can be removed as well.
