What is this interesting growth found at the bottom of my Cloud nine dogwood tree.

Hello, thank you for using Michigan State University Extension Ask Extension with your fungus id question. I belive what we have here is Xylaria pylymorpha or Dead Man's Fingers. It is not up fully yet but a cool shroom.
