Let new Ash tree grow? #869022

Asked May 18, 2024, 1:19 PM EDT

We have a small wooded area that has a few skinny green ash trees that are going to need to come down because of the ash borer. There is a green ash seedling on the other side of the yard that started growing. Any reason to let it grow or will it just be more emerald ash borer fodder? Thank you.

Hi Andrew,

I am answering your question differently than I would have a year ago. I think it's worth leaving them if they don't have other ash trees near them. They may be safe if they are isolated. If there are other ash in the vicinity then I probably would remove all of them and get another variety go the sooner you can.
