Sudden Plum Wilting #868978

Asked May 18, 2024, 12:00 AM EDT

Hi, I planted to plum trees last June. They flowered and seemed fine and in a few days this week completely wilted and are almost dead. What’s happening?

Expert Response

Hello,

So sorry to hear your plum tree  is suffering. Do you know what variety your plum tree is?

it's hard to see what is going on with your tree, but there are many problems plum trees are susceptible to: over/under watering and diseases such as fire blight.

To diagnose the problem conclusively, I'd suggest you bring in a sample of the leaves and our diagnosticians will take a look. Or you could request that the Master Gardener tree team come out for an on-site visit.

Thanks.

I’ll grab some leaves to bring by. I’ve already removed the trees so I can replace them but am trying to not repeat whatever killed these.
