Almond tree problem #868963

Asked May 17, 2024, 8:58 PM EDT

Hi, my almond tree looks like something is tearing apart the leaves. I went out of town right before this warm spell and didn't notice anything before, but now yhe leaves look beat up and some of the lower branches look like most leaves are gone. This is the first time in the 8 years I have lives with it that it hasn't looked completely lush at this time of year. Can you help? I can't reach any of the branches without a ladder, but I can climb up if you need closer pictures

Expert Response

This is a fungal disease called Shot Hole. See links for full information. Since this is its first year of disease, you can protect the tree for next year.
