What is this bug,we’ve never seen one like it

This is a scarab beetle. We have 100s of scarab species in the state, with rose chafer and Japanese Beetle some of the more well known ones. I'm not sure of the species from the photo. These beetles are chewing insects that will feed on a variety of leaves.
