How to Kill Poison Ivy #868879

Asked May 17, 2024, 12:28 PM EDT

Is there anything I can use to kill poison ivy? I will even consider something that is not earth-friendly. Every year I keep getting into it and I'm very allergic to it. It is all over our yard, woods, flower beds, and growing up the sides of our buildings. I also think we may have poison sumac. Thank you for your help.

Here is a document that you should find helpful. Should you decide to use herbicides, follow all safety precautions and use personal protection equipment as suggested by the label. Regardless of the method you decide to use, I would recommend long disposable gloves and possibly a disposable tyvek suit so that you don't risk contamination of your clothing or washer.

Here is a document on poison sumac. It is not the same thing as staghorn, smooth, or fragrant sumac. These do not typically cause allergic reactions.
