Hydrangea transplant shock? #868806

Asked May 16, 2024, 8:56 PM EDT

I am wondering what I can do to support my hydrangea lime light growth. I planted it and it seems to be wilting. I water it daily. It’s been a week. It gets a lot of afternoon sun, but I moved it to a partially shady spot and it still gets a lot of afternoon sun.

Thank you for reaching out to ask2.extension.

First of all you need to trim it down.  The plant will struggle to set roots and support the blooms.  If you didn’t use some type of root starter, that may help.  Be sure you are not overwatering.  The wilt is due to schock, so extra water won’t help.

It will just take time to reset itself.  I think I’d leave it where you have it know and be patient.  You should see positive results within a few weeks.  It takes time.
