Compost leaves - Ask Extension
Hi, Do i really need to chop up leaves before putting them in my rotating bin? if so do you know a fast easy way?

Hello John,
Intact leaves will still compost, but may just take longer to break down. If you want to chop them up, some gardeners make a leaf pile that they then run over a few times with a lawn mower (or pass over with a weed-whacker) in order to shred most of them into smaller pieces that can then be put into the compost.
