I live in New Brighton and have some undesirable grass or weed in my lawn. It is stalky, cylindrical and light green in color. Stalk is about 1/32
to 1/16 inch in diameter and essentially has no blade of grass. It appears to grow in patches about 4- 6 inches wide and grows at an angle. Looks ugly. It is growing in dense lawn. Has not been a problem in the past. Could this be an annual that will disappear.? Would ordinary weed killer kill it?
Can I bring a sample to UMN Extension to ID? What can I do to prevent this from infesting my lawn?

Thank you for writing.
I can probably identify it and give you management suggestions if you send me a well focused 2+ meg cell phone picture.
Otherwise you can send it to the U for ID. https://pdc.umn.edu/
