Cloudy egg whites #868711
Asked May 16, 2024, 12:55 PM EDT
I have three laying hens that were given to me to supplement the lone hen that survived a predator attack. I notice the production of an occasional egg that has cloudy whites. The eggs coagulate into a curdle-like substance around the yolk when fried and the taste is off. Now I am wondering what would cause this ? I Is the layer possibly diseased? If so is the egg unsafe for use? All of chickens appear healthy, are free ranged on farm land and show no obvious signs of illness. One does show a discolored streak down her backside but I haven't been able to catch her for a closer look. I did experience this once previously but it cleared up after I cleaned he up. Thank you for your Hellp.
