Grubs in garden and lawn #868709

Asked May 16, 2024, 12:44 PM EDT

What do you recommend for grub control in the lawn and garden in Central Oregon?? The garden is of greater Concern because I have read not to use the chemicals on the market in the garden. We have previously used The bio advanced grub control product in the lawn and that was successful. Is this OK to continue On our lawn and what should we do about the garden? I read about Borax, but that seems to be harmful to insects as well. Any recommendations Appreciated!

Hi Dide,
Thank you for your question about grubs in your lawn and garden.

Insects can cause damage; however, the damage could be caused by other factors as well. Insects are not the most common cause of lawn damage. Poor lawn care and maintenance, lawn diseases, and dog urine can resemble insect damage. It is important to identify what is causing the damage before applying a treatment.

The following OSU Extension article describes common lawn insects, their damage and how to identify them: Insect Pests in Lawns | solvepest (oregonstate.edu)
