Kukulcania hibernalis In my house! #868649

Asked May 15, 2024, 11:11 PM EDT

Hi, we found a Southern House Spider tonight in our living room. Looked like a male. We put it outside before we realized it’s way out of its range. I know the climate is warming, but dang, we don’t have Tennessee’s climate yet. We eat fruit and have bananas and oranges right now. Hitchhiker? I hope it eats my mosquitoes

Expert Response

Michigan has 100s of spider species that can look alike and only be identified by a physical sample. The abdomen looks different than the one of a Southern House spider. This spider is most likely one in the Agelinid family.
