Fairytale Eggplant Leaves Edges Turning Black #868612

Asked May 15, 2024, 5:27 PM EDT

Hello. The edges of the leaves of my fairytale eggplant seedlings are curling and turning black. It is happening in 2 containers more than 10 feet apart. The finger eggplant seedlings (about 5 feet from the fairytale) are fine at the moment. All are using the same soil. Do you know what could be causing this and how to remedy? Photo of leaf attached.

Expert Response

The edge browning and leaf spotting and possibly the leaf curling is probably due to environmental factors (cold temperatures, temperature extremes, salt burn, dry media, etc.) Healthy plants will grow out of the injury.

Curling can be caused by sucking insect pests. Closely examine leaves and stems for signs of aphids or other insect pests like leafhoppers.

Protect plants from flea beetles with row cover or organic insecticides.
