Hello,
Wild strawberry is a difficult weed to eradicate from lawns. Any broadleaf herbicide such as 2,4-D or dicamba should kill off wild strawberry. It may be counter intuitive, but fall is actually the best time to apply herbicide. While the plants are no longer actively growing, they are moving sugars to the roots for winter storage and effectively move the herbicide to the roots as well.
You may apply a broadleaf herbicide throughout the summer to weaken the plants, but it ultimately may take several applications (possibly over multiple growing seasons) to fully remove the weed.
