pond alga control #868529

Asked May 15, 2024, 11:53 AM EDT

I have 0.5 acre pond that bloomed width algae at the end of summer and into fall and the algae was not killed by freezing this winter. Who should I contact for help with this problem?

Wyandot County Ohio

Expert Response

If you are able, please submit some photos of the problem area here and we can see if there is information we can share on managing the pond algae yourself.

You could also choose to contact a private pond company such as AquaDocs (https://www.aquadocinc.com/) to treat your pond for you.

Or you could contact the OSU Aquatic Biology Specialist, Eugene Braig, to discuss your pond further at:

If you are able to submit photos, we will correspond for more information about the timing, characteristics, and past management you have employed to try and provide you guidance for further control of your algae problems.
