How to treat my sick honeysuckle? #868391

Asked May 14, 2024, 1:01 PM EDT

Hi, Today I noticed that my long-established honeysuckle plant looks sick. New vines coming from the trunk look fine, but older vines have leaves that look ill. Can you please advise me about what is wrong and how to best treat it? Thank you!

Expert Response

Hi Cherie,
It is difficult to tell exactly what is going on with your honeysuckle from photos. It could be a fungal disease, or it could be a nutrient deficiency, or it could be insect damage. My suggestion is to take some affected leaves with their stems into the Yamhill County OSU Extension office.

Once you are there, Master Gardeners can look at both the top and bottom of the leaves, examine the stems for discoloration, and get more details from you. They can also use a microscope to verify whether there are any fungal diseases apparent. They will be able to accurate diagnose the situation.
