eliminating acrobat ants in sunporch wall #868382

Asked May 14, 2024, 12:17 PM EDT

How does one safely eliminate acrobat ants in an exterior wall of unheated sunporch? Professional exterminators want to hit them with four different high-power toxins, including fogging room, using a granular bait outside, and spraying entire perimeter of house. I see occasional signs of the ants in the sunroom--they seem to be removing some kind of insulation from wall and enter room through thin seams in trim around window. Room has lots of plants but no human food, fire wood, or shrubs against outside wall. The windows were recently replaced and that seems to have stirred them up.

Hi,

There is no harm in getting a second opinion form a different exterminator if you haven't already.

You may need to relocate the wood pile. You can check to see if that is a nest source.

Bait traps can work if you notice them coming in at certain entry points and may be worth trying before using an exterminator. You can find them at most home improvement stores or you can find recipes for homemade versions which uses the same ingredients: sugar water and boric acid or Borax powder
