They just appeared scattered in one area. There were recently snowdrops in this area but I don’t know if they are related.

Seed pod ID can be challenging unless there are distinctive features present, but since you mentioned Galanthus (Snowdrops) growing in the area, we checked and found that these do indeed look like Snowdrops seed pods, though perhaps unripe. As such, they probably don't contain viable seed, but you could open some and see, if you wanted to experiment with growing them. Still, Galanthus has escaped cultivation and become naturalized in parts of Maryland (growing wild from seed moved into wild areas); it's not flagged as invasive so far, but it is a non-native that has appeared outside of gardens on its own.
