Is it safe to harvest from a rhubard plant with ramularia? #868178
Asked May 13, 2024, 11:46 AM EDT
Hello – I transplanted a rhubarb plant in my yard in May 2021. I have not harvest from it yet, but have identified several leaves with ramularia on it. Per recommendations from the Growing Rhubarb page, I have been destroying infected leaves. However, many leaves are free of the red spots, and I am wondering if it is possible to still harvest from the plant or if I should be treating the plant first to address the ramularia before we consider harvesting and eating from it?
Thank you in advance!

Ramularia is a common disease of rhubarb and it doesn’t make the stalks unsafe to eat.
