Volunteer ash tree #868150

Hello,
I have this volunteer tree that is about 12 feet tall, and I suspect it is an ash tree. I know there were many ash trees removed from this property >10 years ago due to the ash borer. Should I remove this volunteer ash tree before it gets too large? I like its location and would otherwise keep it, but want to be mindful.
Thank you.

It is hard to positively identify your tree from the picture. If it is an ash, you may want to replace it. They can be infested with EAB when they are as small as 1" in caliper. Since you like the placement, now would be a good time to put something in that will not be infested. The other thing it could be is a walnut (those pesky squirrels). Either way, I would suggest replacing it.
