ID this plant. Rubus something #868064

Asked May 12, 2024, 11:22 AM EDT

Hi, I noticed a wild rubus something growing in my backyard. Can you please help identify it? I would love to transplant it closer to my other blackberry plants and harvest it, but not if it’s an invasive type like himilayan blackberry. Until I get an ID, i will transplant it and grow it isolated in a planter to prevent spreading.

Expert Response

Hi Jacob,

Good to hear from you? I an sorry that I cannot ID this plant to the species. My word of caution is that most wild brambles carry viruses. Hence, it is not a good idea to transplant them to your yard. It is much better to purchase virus indexed (virus free) plants for high quality and yield.

Hope this helps.
