Insects (aphids?) on hellebores #868037

Asked May 11, 2024, 8:09 PM EDT

I took these photos on May 1st. Now, 10 days later, things are even worse. Can you diagnose? Will the plants live? Do I need to treat them?

Expert Response

Yes, they are aphids (and shed aphid skins). Don't worry about them, predators are likely to be attracted to the plants to provide control.  Or, you can blast them off with a hose spray of plain water.

If you wish to use a chemical control, try insecticidal soap. Here is a website with more information.
