Weed Man Lawn Control #868029

Asked May 11, 2024, 6:08 PM EDT

My daughter has an annual & perennial garden that runs the length of her back yard - about 125/150 feet. The neighbor uses a Lawn Service - Weed Man, to enhance the grass & control so called, weeds. They have zero shrubs, bushes, trees or plants in their yard. My daughter wants to expand the garden to include produce. She is concerned the sprayed chemicals used by the lawn service may be toxic for both the plants & humans, especially the produce. (Plus her dog.) I called the lawn service & inquired about the chemicals but was not given a concrete answer as to if the chemicals were toxic. There is a chain link fence dividing the yards & the chemical solution is sprayed up to the property line defined by the fence. Thoughts, suggestions, facts?

Expert Response

Thank you for your question.  It has been assigned to me.  You have a valid concern about possible toxic effects of the herbicide that might have been used.  I am not surprised by the reluctance of you lawn service to deal with any possible deleterious effects upon humans.  For me to assist you, I need to know the name(s) of the herbicide(s) that were applied.  I would think that you should have the right to that type of information.  Give them a call again and simply ask for the herbicide name.  That  information you can then send to us.

Good luck.  Thanks for consulting us.
