Need recommendations for my garden soil…. Arsenic and Cadmium #867929

Asked May 10, 2024, 4:49 PM EDT

I am looking for info on Arsenic and Cadium levels and what to do about it. I did not find info on this website. My garden soil testing from A&L Western labs came back Arsenic 22.27mg/kg and Cadmium .63, Lead 413.27. What should I do? Seems like 400 is a cut off of ok with lead. Do you think I can grow and wash leaves for leafy veggies , cakes and tomatoes?

Thank you for your questions, Eleanor.  Here is an Extension article on arsenic, with suggestions about how to mitigate the risk:  https://gardening.ces.ncsu.edu/soils/soil-contaminants/arsenic-in-the-garden/

This same source has information about cadmium:  https://gardening.ces.ncsu.edu/soils/soil-contaminants/arsenic-in-the-garden/

And here is information about lead contamination:  https://extension.umd.edu/resource/lead-garden-soils/

I hope this helps.  Good luck!
