How likely is an Eastern Redbud tree or a flowering Dogwood tree to survive in Monument Co?
El Paso County Colorado
Expert Response
Hi John, the maximum elevation for the Redbud is 6000 ft. It needs part shade, it needs medium water and planted in a protected area. The elevation for Monument is between 6900 to 7400. This tree would not do well in Monument.
Native Dogwood Shrubs - the maximum elevation is 8000 ft. Below is a link from the Colorado Springs Utilities Water Wise Plant Selection. This would be a great selection if your elevation is less than 8000 ft.
