Hydrangea Curling and Wilted #867888

Asked May 10, 2024, 1:15 PM EDT

I have four Annabelle hydrangea bushes that were planted just last year and they are all curled and wilted. We have been getting a lot of rain so I haven't been watering as much. They are on the north side of the house. What do you think is causing this?

Thank you for writing.
Those plants get 4 to 6 feet wide.  They are way too close to the wall.
Please scrape off the mulch to I can see what is under it.  It appears to be suppressing weeds and could be preventing water from getting to the roots--the plant looks like the roots are not delivering water.  Watering leaves is not a substitute.
The lack of shadows in the picture is odd for a North side.  Use the compass on your cell phone to find true north and lay a pen or pencil on the ground to help me.
The Annabelle needs morning sun.  I doubt that this is getting it but am willing to be surprised.
